At a glance
Worth shortlisting if you want one larger basket and your counter can accommodate it. Compare a two-zone model if you need separate foods on separate schedules. This is not a cooking-performance test.

- AF181
The AF181 is worth considering for one particular reason: a single larger basket can suit a meal you cook together. The same design creates a limitation when dinner needs two foods cooked at different temperatures or on different schedules.
This is a source-based review of the US Ninja AF181, checked on October 13, 2026. Pickora has not cooked in the appliance, measured temperature accuracy or tested long-term durability. The product photographs come from SharkNinja’s official listing.
What the published design tells you
SharkNinja’s AF181 listing specifies a 6.5-quart basket, six cooking functions and a maximum setting of 450°F. It also lists the US unit at 120V and 1750W. Those are manufacturer specifications; they are not our measurements of the cooking process or electricity consumed in a meal.
The useful first decision is the basket arrangement. If your usual meal is one batch, a single-zone design may be enough. If you regularly make a main dish and side at different settings, compare the inconvenience of sequential batches with a two-zone appliance. Extra nominal capacity does not create a second independent zone.
Do not convert the quart figure directly into a guaranteed number of servings. The shape of the food, required spacing and your portion sizes all matter. Write down two or three actual meals and compare how you would arrange them in the basket.
Check the counter and the space in front
A countertop appliance needs more than a place to sit. Check the manufacturer’s dimensions and installation instructions against your worktop, storage and the room needed to withdraw the basket. Follow the manual’s clearance requirements rather than estimating a safe gap from a photograph.

If you plan to put the fryer away after each use, measure that storage position too. An appliance can fit the counter but still be inconvenient to move or store. Decide whether it will live beside the preparation area or need to be brought out each time.
Consider the complete routine: take out the basket, transfer food and set down utensils. A layout that leaves no clear working area can be frustrating even when the appliance’s outer dimensions fit.
Treat cooking claims as claims to evaluate
The manufacturer promotes crisping performance and reduced-fat results. We have not verified those claims and do not use them as evidence that every recipe will work better than another appliance or method.
For your own first sessions, use the instructions and an ordinary meal you can judge consistently. Note whether the quantity fits, whether the required handling is practical and whether the controls match the way you cook. Avoid designing the entire purchase around a heavily styled product photograph.
If your main problem is coordinating different dishes, a larger basket may not resolve it. If it is fitting a single batch, the basket dimensions and arrangement deserve closer inspection than a long feature list.
Cleaning and ownership questions
Before ordering, read the basket and plate care instructions. Check which parts can be removed and how they need to be handled. Do not assume every cleaning product or abrasive tool is suitable for a coated component.
Ask the seller about replacement parts, the warranty applicable to your location and the model code on the box. A discounted unit is less appealing if its regional support or accessories do not match your needs. Our research does not establish future parts availability or coating durability.
Prices vary by region and promotion, so this review deliberately leaves out a lasting price claim. Compare the complete delivered cost and the return conditions for the specific model you intend to buy.
The regional model is part of the purchase
The US electrical specification is a material boundary for this review. European readers should look for an appropriate local model, then check its documentation separately. A similar product name is not enough to establish matching voltage, controls or warranty.
Shortlist the AF181 if one larger basket solves an identified cooking need and its operating routine fits your kitchen. Pause if two independently timed dishes are central to dinner, space is very limited or you need measured cooking evidence before buying. A hands-on comparison is the remaining evidence gap; a specification-based review cannot fill it.
Questions & answers
Is this a hands-on cooking review?
No. It assesses the official AF181 specification and buying trade-offs. Pickora has not cooked food in it or measured consistency, noise or energy use.
Can European buyers use the same model?
Do not assume so. The reviewed US AF181 specification lists 120V. Buy the appropriate regional model and verify its label, supply requirements and warranty rather than relying on a similar name.
